PDO Threads

What are PDO threads?

Polydioxanone is a fully absorbable suture that has been used for more than 20 years in orthopedics, surgery, plastic surgery and opthalmology.

What do PDO threads do?

PDO threads reposition sagging skin while also stimulating collagen and elastin production. The threads are inserted into the subdermal tissue for support of the areas being treated. Over the next 6-8 months, the PDO threads dissolve creating collagen which will keep the skin lifted and tighter for an additional 12 months or longer. Skin texture is also improved contributing to a more youthful, refreshed appearance.

What is the downtime?

You will be sore for a few days. The worst day is the day after the procedure so you will want to rest. Bruising is possible. There may be some transient zinging sensations from the nerves having been stimulated that will resolve is a couple of weeks. Swelling is minimal. NSAIDs and ice will help. PDO threads have a high safety profile, complete absorption and minimal tissue reaction.
